CHARLOTTE TO HOST QUICKSTART WORKSHOP

As an update to the USTA Jr. Team Tennis calendar, the CTA, in partnership with Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation, will be hosting a QuickStart Workshop on Wednesday, February 24 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Charlotte Indoor (See Facilities Directions on the menu to the left). Lunch will be provided by the CTA. We are especially excited that National Trainer Jorge Andrew will be conducting this workshop.

Congratulations to the following organization, and individuals from Charlotte who were honored at the 2009 NC Tennis Annual Awards Luncheon. Recipients are recognized for their contributions to the sport, good work in the community and accomplishments on the court. The Awards Luncheon was held during the NC Tennis Association’s 2010 Tennis Weekend which was held in Pinehurst January 30.

TOURNAMENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

The Charlotte Tennis Association will be hosting a junior tennis tournament March 6-8 at the Jeff Adams Tennis Center. This is a high profile tournament for NC, that attract 275-300 junior players from all over NC as well as several other southern states. To host this event truly requires a community effort. SPRING CHALLENGE LADDER IS COMING IN MARCH!!

The winter challenge ladder, offering singles, doubles, and mixed doubles, will be ending February 14 with the playoffs to be held February 26-28 at Park Road Park. The Spring Season Ladder (offering SINGLES play only) will begin in March, and registration is now open. 2010 CTA JUNIOR & ADULT TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE

Check out the CTA 2010 junior tournament schedule. We have something for all levels of junior and adult tournament players...4 junior tournaments...two Level 3's and two Futures as well as an adult NTRP. Our first planned event is the MidCourt Cup scheduled for March 6-8 at the Jeff Adams Tennis Center. This is a Level 3 tournament which in the past has attracted close to 300 high level players from North Carolina and several other southern states.

2009 YEAR-END NTRP RATINGS

The 2009 NTRP ratings are now available online at The USTA/North Carolina website. Nationwide, a higher percentage of players will experience upward movement this year compared to previous years. The majority of players, however, will experience no change. Although they may be playing at a different level, players should continue to experience compatible and competitive matches.
